Northern Virginia labor union leader Dennis L. Martire

Hailing from Northern Virginia where he resides with his family, Dennis L. Martire commands the entire mid-Atlantic region when it comes to labor unions. Named the elected vice president and regional manager of this area for the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), Martire took this position in 2002 — and he has held it ever since that time. For more than a decade prior, Martire worked tirelessly with LIUNA after starting a tenure there in 1990.

In 1990, Martire began with LIUNA as international representative for the organization’s jurisdictional disputes department. In the decade to follow, he grew into assistant director then director for the construction department of LIUNA. And by March 2002, he was named the organization’s assistant regional manager for the mid-Atlantic region — a stepping stone to his current position, which he earned in January 2002. From his home in Northern Virginia to the companies in which these workers put in hours every day, Dennis L. Martire has led LIUNA through monumental achievements such as the expansion of LIUNA Local 11 to include more members and prevailing fair work wages for individuals in Maryland. His career of successes continues with nearly 30 years of dedicated work to LIUNA and the labor unions of the mid-Atlantic area.
