Dennis L. Martire’s Impactful Union Leadership in Service of the Rank-and-File

Dennis L. Martire assumed the role of Assistant Regional Manager of the Mid-Atlantic Region in March 2000, later being elected Vice President and Regional Manager two years thereafter. His dedication extends beyond regional management; Martire plays a pivotal role in various capacities within the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA). Notably, he serves as a Trustee for the Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (MALECET) and is deeply engaged with the Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund of North America (LHSFNA).

Throughout the past three decades, Dennis L. Martire has demonstrated exceptional leadership, spearheading numerous successful initiatives within LiUNA. One such milestone was facilitating a process for workers on Fluor-Lane’s Route 495 Hot Lanes Project expansion to decide on union membership. This endeavor proved pivotal as a vast majority of workers opted to unionize, marking a significant triumph for LiUNA Local 11 and a standout achievement in the Virginia construction sector.

In addition to his adept stewardship of LiUNA’s Mid-Atlantic Region, Martire’s influence extends to various boards and committees across diverse industries. He holds notable positions such as chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition (MAROC), and the American High-Speed Rail Alliance Advisory Board. Martire’s involvement also includes leadership roles in critical bodies like the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Maryland Transportation Funding, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), and the Dulles Area Transportation Authority.
